I used to think, “Why don’t they just move to higher ground!” Then later, while slugging it out in my own poverty, I realized that perhaps they couldn’t move to higher ground because they could not afford to do so. It is amazing how education, one’s abilities, and life conditions [maybe KSEs] can keep us in situations that to others seem foolish to stay in.
